Dive into AASL Standards-related topics with three online courses

CHICAGO – Registration is now open for three American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) online courses. These four-week, self-paced courses delve into AASL Standards-related topics and are facilitated by the authors of AASL publications. Registration and additional course information is available at www.ala.org/aasl/ecourses.

The upcoming courses are:

Lessons Inspired by Picture Books for Primary Grades
Course Runs: February 1-26, 2021
Facilitator: Maureen Schlosser

Participants will work with the AASL Standards Framework for Learners to create a picture book-based lesson plan with a corresponding assessment and rubric.

Shared Foundation: Collaborate
Course Runs: March 1-26, 2021
Facilitator: Mary Catherine Coleman

In this course, participants will explore the Collaborate Shared Foundation and how the interconnected nature of the AASL Standards Integrated Frameworks offers a roadmap to develop a culture of collaboration in the school community.

Shared Foundation: Inquire
Course Runs: March 29 – April 23, 2021
Facilitator: Lori Donovan

Participants will use a design thinking protocol to create strategies for developing an inquiry culture and create advocacy plans encouraging buy-in from stakeholders.

The courses are designed to give participants 12 hours of self-paced learning led by experts in the school library profession. Courses are presented in Google Classroom, a Web-based online learning system. Registrants must have a Gmail account to participate.
