Core Webinar: Cataloging Virtual Reality Programming

CHICAGOOn Wednesday, May 18, Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures will host the webinar “Cataloging Virtual Reality Programming” at 1 p.m. CT. Cataloging is an ever-changing platform that grows and expands with challenges. As new libraries employ new technology and material types, catalogers must invent and discover new ways to catalog and describe it. One such challenge is virtual reality programming. Unlike video games, many of these are all digital and do not have any type of physical format. So, what is the best way to catalog them? During this webinar, the presenter Joy DuBose will examine the process of cataloging a virtual reality collection, including the best way to catalog VR games and how to go about cataloging early access games and those that are part of a bundle. At the end of the webinar, participants will have a better understanding of how to catalog virtual reality programs for various headsets. Catalogers in all types of libraries will benefit from this webinarwhile virtual reality programming has been available for some time, it is just now being seen as something to add to a library’s catalog.
