Booklist library subscribers can now share Booklist Reader with their patrons

CHICAGO – In fall of 2021, Booklist, the review publication of the American Library Association, launched a free trial of Booklist Reader, a patron–facing digital magazine that offers diverse readers’ advisory recommendations for readers and listeners of all ages.

Now Booklist Reader is available solely to Booklist subscribers who can easily share this incredible resource with patrons.

In addition to great book recommendations, Booklist Reader highlights authors and books that library patrons may not have otherwise discovered and encourages all readers to explore offerings in their local libraries.

“Reading outside our comfort zones is one of the most effective methods to grow minds—and hearts,” insisted Terry Hong, a Booklist Advisory Board member and former Advisory Board chair. “Patrons will quickly recognize, and come to rely on, Booklist Reader as an excellent enabler of exciting, enjoyable, empathic new reads.”

Subscribers can share this resource by following these steps:

  1. Subscribe to Booklist
  2. Click the Activate Profile button at the top of www.booklistonline.com
  3. Go to My Profile and click the blue Share Booklist Reader button
  4. Retrieve unique links that can be embedded in library newsletters and websites
  5. Get help by emailing [email protected]

Booklist Reader is also partnering with LibraryReads, an organization that each month publishes a list of the top 10 books read by library workers across the nation.

“LibraryReads is particularly excited to be part of this new Booklist product,” said LibraryReads Executive Director Rebecca Vnuk. “We share the same goal of bringing great books to readers and of harnessing the power of library staff recommendations, and this is a perfect way for libraries to expand their readers’ advisory reach.”

Booklist Reader is supported by a generous grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and supports Booklist’s core mission to connect library and education workers to the books and resources needed to support and enrich their communities.
