A month ago, the HBO Max streaming service unveiled a teaser trailer for the seven-episode true crime limited series Love & Death, which is set to premiere on the HBO Max streaming service on Thursday, April 27th. Now, with that date just one more month away, a full trailer for Love & Death has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above.

The first three episodes of the show will be available to watch as of April 27th. The remaining four episodes will then be released on a weekly basis, wrapping up on May 25th.

Starring Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision) and Jesse Plemons (Fargo), Love & Death was written by prolific TV series creator David E. Kelley (Picket Fences, Ally McBeal, Big Little Lies, etc.) and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, whose long list of credits include episodes of shows like Gilmore Girls, Heroes, ER, House, Mad Men, True Blood, The Walking Dead, and Homeland.

Love & Death tells the true story of Candy and Pat Montgomery and Betty and Allan Gore – two churchgoing couples enjoying their smalltown Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

If that sounds very familiar to you, it may be because Love & Death is based on the same true crime story that recently served as the basis for the Hulu mini-series Candy (read our review HERE), starring Jessica Biel and Melanie Lynskey.

Olsen and Plemons are joined in the cast of this one by Lily Rabe (American Horror Story), Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Tom Pelphrey (Guiding Light), Keir Gilchrist (Atypical), and Elizabeth Marvel (House of Cards).

A Max Original, Love & Death was co-produced by Lionsgate. Kelly executive produced the series through David E. Kelley Productions, alongside Nicole Kidman and Per Saari of Blossom Films, Scott Brown and Megan Creydt of Texas Monthly, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick, Helen Verno, and Glatter.

Just like CandyLove & Death was inspired by the book Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs, and articles on the Candy Montgomery case that were published in Texas Monthly. Those articles were titled Love & Death in Silicon Prairie. The book and the articles were written by Jim Atkinson and John Bloom… and by the way, John Bloom is also known as legendary movie host Joe Bob Briggs.

What did you think of the Love & Death trailer? Will you be watching this show in April / May? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below. I haven’t watched Candy yet, but I’ll probably be watching both Candy and Love & Death at some point.
