Evil Dead: Bruce Campbell and Ted Raimi suggest adding Freddy, Jason, and Ted Raimi to the game

Bruce Campbell thinks Freddy and Jason should be added to Evil Dead: The Game, while Ted Raimi suggests one of his characters

After the release of Freddy vs. Jason back in 2003, New Line Cinema wanted to make a sequel to the film that would have seen Freddy and Jason doing battle with Ash Williams, the heroic character Bruce Campbell plays in the Evil Dead franchise. Alas, Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash wasn’t to be, as Campbell and his fellow Evil Dead rights holders – franchise creator Sam Raimi and producer Rob Tapert – decided they didn’t want to drop Ash into a sequel to other franchises. They wanted to continue making Evil Dead projects on their own. But now that Evil Dead: The Game is in the world, Campbell has suggested Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash could happen in game land, they just need to add Freddy and Jason as playable characters. Meanwhile, Ted Raimi has his own suggestion for a character that should be added to the game: his Ash vs. Evil Dead character Chet Kaminsky!

During an interview with AV Club, Campbell was asked if he would be interested in having Ash appear in a Mortal Kombat game. He replied, “No, I don’t want Ash to appear in other people’s games. Other creatures like Freddy and Jason should be in the Evil Dead game. You should be able to play as Freddy. You should be able to play as Jason and then have Ash fight those guys. So the video game format is much more welcoming, and then you make a side deal with whoever to get the likeness and the character of Freddy, you let the game company make those deals. So that’s what I would do. But, no, I’m not interested in loaning Ash out. They need to come to our house.

So his “Ash in other games” stance is the same as the “Ash getting mixed into other horror franchises” stance.

Meanwhile, Ted Raimi has taken to social media to ask fans to get in contact with the game’s developers to let them know they would like to see Chet Kaminski get added into Evil Dead: The Game:

Ted Raimi has played multiple roles in the Evil Dead franchise. In addition to playing Chet on Ash vs. Evil Dead, he was a “Fake Shemp” (stand-in) for the original film, he was Possessed Henrietta in Evil Dead II, and was both a Cowardly Warrior and one of Ash’s S-Mart co-workers in Army of Darkness. Possessed Henrietta is already in the game, but it would be nice to have Chet in there as well so fans could play as a recognizable version of Ted Raimi.

What do you think of these character suggestions? Would you like to see Freddy, Jason, and/or Chet get added into Evil Dead: The Game? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

While we wait to see what the future holds for Evil Dead: The Game, the new film Evil Dead Rise is in theatres now. You can read our review HERE.
