Dead Hot trailer: Vanessa Hudgens explores witchcraft and ghost hunting in unscripted Tubi film

Tubi has unveiled a trailer for the unscripted film Dead Hot, about Vanessa Hudgens’ exploration of witchcraft. Now streaming for free

A couple months ago, we heard that the free streaming service Tubi had picked up the streaming rights to the unscripted film Dead Hot, starring Vanessa Hudgens (who recently signed on for Bad Boys 4) and her best friend, musician GG Magree. Dead Hot has been released through Tubi today, and you can check out the trailer in the embed above to see what it’s all about.

Described as “an intimate journey into the supernatural realm that explores identity, feminine power and sisterhood”, Dead Hot has the following synopsis: Hudgens and Magree are self-taught students of witchcraft and have been experimenting and connecting with the spirit world for much of their lives. But after a ghost hunt gone wrong, the duo realizes they need to seek out proper mentorship and training, so they head on a pilgrimage to Salem with cameras chronicling their journey for a masterclass in witchcraft.

The film comes to us from Bunim-Murray Productions and Banijay Rights. Bunim-Murray’s president Julie Pizzi told Variety that Dead Hot was originally supposed to focus on ghost hunting, an element that is still quite prominent in the trailer, but became something more like a spiritual coming-of-age story. Hudgens said the project “was developed and created out of pure passion”.

Tubi’s Adam Lewinson added, “Dead Hot is a uniquely authentic exploration of spirituality and female empowerment. This personal and powerful journey through the supernatural with Vanessa Hudgens and GG Magree will deeply engage Tubi viewers with premium storytelling from our partners at Bunim-Murray and Banijay.

Variety noted that, “Witchcraft is not just an interest of Hudgens and Magree. Dead Hot taps into a recent fascination with witchcraft — at least across social media, with the hashtag #WitchTok garnering over 36 billion views on TikTok.“ That quote is just a couple months old, but the #WitchTok view count has already surpassed 40 billion since then.

What did you think of the Dead Hot trailer? Will you be watching Hudgens’ and Magree’s exploration of witchcraft and ghost hunting now that it’s streaming for free on Tubi? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
