Call My Agent!: Eva Longoria to direct and produce a Spanish-language remake of the French series

Actress and Flamin’ Hot director Eva Longoria will direct and produce a Call My Agent! remake based on the popular French series.

After making her directorial debut with Flamin’ Hot, Eva Longoria is ready to announce her next project. Reports indicate her next endeavor is a Spanish-language remake of the International Emmy-winning French series Call My Agent! News about the remake comes from the Series Mania Festival in Lille, where Longoria announced that it will be co-produced by Mediawan, Elefantec Global, and her studio UnbeliEVAble Entertainment. Longoria is directing the first two episodes, with other directors forthcoming.

Call My Agent! is a satire about the chaotic life of celebrity agents. The series aired on France Télévisions for four seasons, with numerous people tuning in for the fictional drama. Netflix snapped up the rights to stream the series, and since then, it’s become one of the platform’s best French offerings.

“Like so many people around the globe, I’ve been a huge fan of the original series since it first premiered,” said Longoria. “I’m so excited to partner with Mediawan and Elefantec Global to bring one of the greatest properties that gives a witty and satirical look behind the curtain of the entertainment industry for the Spanish-speaking American market,” she added.

“Joining forces with Eva Longoria and Pepe Baston to take ‘Call My Agent!’ to Latin America is a unique opportunity,” said Pierre-Antoine Capton, chairman of Mediawan.

“Their talent and know-how combined with their international renown guarantee an innovative and premium adaptation of this series, a real funny and moving gem that the French creators were able to bring to life and which has since been traveling to audiences worldwide,” Capton added.

Longoria is quickly becoming a talent to watch in directing and producing circles. Her directorial debut for Flamin’ Hot focuses on the true story of Richard Montañez (Jesse Garcia), who grew up picking grapes in California. Still, after dropping out of school and working a series of odd jobs, Montanez began working as a janitor at Frito-Lay. Endeavoring to become the best janitor Frito-Lay ever had, Montanez also ventured outside his janitorial duties by spending time in the warehouse and learning all he could about the machines, the company, and its products. Montanez also noticed that none of Frito-Lay’s products were spicy or hot. Thanks to a broken appliance, the brilliant custodial worker could get his hands on some Cheetos without the cheese coating. After taking them home, he dusted them with his own homemade chili powder inspired by elote, a Mexican street food, and the spicy snack was a massive hit with his friends and family. Richard Montanez was then urged to share his creation, and he wound up calling Frito-Lay CEO Roger Enrico directly and pitched him on what would become Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, which are now Frito-Lay’s top-selling product. As for Montanez, he’s now an executive for PepsiCo (Frito-Lay’s parent company) in charge of multicultural sales across North America.
