Arnold Schwarzenegger still wants to make one more Conan the Barbarian movie

Arnold Schwarzenegger may be done with The Terminator, but he still wants to make one more Conan the Barbarian movie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger may be done with the Terminator franchise, but he’s not ready to call it quits on Conan the Barbarian.

Following the release of Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer, a third installment of the franchise was planned before it eventually entered development hell. Since then, the project has surfaced several times over the years but just can’t seem to get off the ground. While speaking with THR, Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals that he’s still game to play Conan one more time, but the issue seems to be tied up with who owns the rights.

It’s been pending for the last 10 years. [Fredrik] Malmberg owns the rights,” Arnold Schwarzenegger said. “He comes to me and says, ‘Oh, I have a deal with Netflix,’ and when we ask Netflix, they don’t know anything about it. It’s one of those crazy things. I hope he figures it out.” The actor continued: “I think you do it like Unforgiven, where you play the age. There’s a great script out there that John Milius wrote, and others have written one. The story is there. There are directors who want to do it. But he has the rights, and until he sells the rights for one or two movies, or for the franchise, there’s nothing you can do about it.

A Conan sequel dealing with an aging conqueror in the vein of Unforgiven sounds like a no-brainer to me. I think Conan fans would love to see Arnold Schwarzenegger take on the role once more, but time is tickin’. The last Conan the Barbarian movie was the 2011 reboot that starred Jason Momoa as the title character. Unfortunately, the film didn’t win over any fans, and Momoa himself called it a “big pile of shit.

Arnold Schwarzenegger discussed the future of the Terminator franchise in the same interview. “The franchise is not done. I’m done,” Schwarzenegger said. “I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to The Terminator. Someone has to come up with a great idea.

Would you like to see Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan the Barbarian one more time?
