Rachel Brosnahan addresses Lois Lane rumors

Rachel Brosnahan reportedly gave a stellar audition as Lois Lane but says readers should take their internet info with a “grain of salt.”

Rachel Brosnahan is best known for her titular role on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but could she be speeding towards something a little more super? Last week, reports attached a number of actresses to the role of Lois Lane, with Brosnahan herself supposedly one of the frontrunners for Superman: Legacy.

Speaking on The View about her potential to play Lois Lane in James Gunn’s upcoming  Superman picture, Brosnahan stated, “I mean, look, take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt is my first piece of advice. Look, it would be extraordinary; I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist, who is far from a damsel in distress and I would jump at the chance if it arose.”

Part of this, one might note, came with a bit of a cringey face. Inside of the The Hollywood Reporter piece was a quote that Brosnahan even auditioned for Lois Lane, apparently delivering an “outstanding” one. However, Gunn is gearing for younger, which could prove fatal to the 32-year-old Brosnahan, who is hardly a target of AARP, but maybe not quite what the director’s after. In the same article, THR cited David Corenswet as the frontrunner for the role of Clark Kent/Superman.

James Gunn is staying quiet on the subject itself, saying it’s the actor’s business whether or not they want to make their audition public. Going off of that, it would seem that her interview on The View could have been a good time for Rachel Brosnahan to confirm if she had even auditioned or not for Lois Lane. Then again, one can imagine the reaction if she told them that she nailed but was told on the way to her car that she was too old…Other actresses reportedly in the running include Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dyvenor and Scream VI’s Samara Weaving.

Rachel Brosnahan has won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, with three additional nominations for the role.

How do you think Rachel Brosnahan would do as Lois Lane? Who would you like to see in the role? Let us know below!
