Extraction 2: Tyler Rake returns to bring the pain in the new trailer for the Netflix action film

Sam Hargrave ramps up the intricately shot action from the first film and promises to deliver the ride of your life with this new sequel.

Tyler Rake is back from the dead. Sam Hargrave returns to give viewers more dynamic, epically shot, mind-blowing action with Extraction 2. Netflix has just dropped the new trailer after debuting new key art, and the new footage shows how Chris Hemsworth’s mercenary character survived the events of the first despite being mortally wounded and assumed dead. The director brothers of the Captain America sequels and Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Joe and Anthony Russo, once again executive produce this knock-down, drag-out, bloody knuckles of an action film.

The official Netflix synopsis reads,
Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in EXTRACTION 2, the sequel to Netflix’s blockbuster action film EXTRACTION. After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.

Hemsworth reunites with director Sam Hargrave, with Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO producing and Joe Russo writing. Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, with Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also co-starring.

This is a sequel to the first film that was based on the graphic novel ‘Ciudad’ by Ande Parks, from a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo & Anthony Russo, with illustrations by Fernando León González. EXTRACTION 2 is produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, Chris Hemsworth, Patrick Newall and Sam Hargrave, with Jake Aust, Benjamin Grayson, Steven Scavelli, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely as executive producers.

Although they’ve dealt mostly with superhero films, the Russos join the recent wave of filmmakers who are finding ways of innovating action to present something fresher to the audiences. The 87eleven crew obviously incorporates a lot of guns mixed with hand-to-hand combat with the John Wicks, Atomic Blonde, and Bullet Train. While the Fast & Furious films partake in over-the-top vehicular action that emulates the feeling of being a kid playing with toy cars, the Extraction movies are big on the presentation, where they like to have you follow the action in long takes, as well as being tactical and gritty.

Extraction 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on June 16.
