Star Wars: Daisy Ridley is returning for a new trilogy of films, with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directing the first chapter

Daisy Ridley is reprising her role as Rey for a new trilogy of movies set in the Star Wars Universe with fantastic directors attached.

Star Wars Celebration 2023 is pulling out all the stops with massive news about a new trilogy of films set in the Star Wars Universe! Returning for more adventure set in a galaxy far, far away is Daisy Ridley, who is reprising her role as Rey in the upcoming Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel3 Bahadur: Rise of the Warriors). In addition to Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni, and James Mangold will direct other films in the franchise.

Obaid-Chinoy directs the first film in the new trilogy from a script by Steven Knight (SerenityDirty Pretty ThingsEastern Promises). The story takes place after the events of the latest Star Wars trilogy (The Force AwakensThe Last JediThe Rise of Skywalker), as Rey builds a new Jedi Order.

Filoni and Mangold helm other new films in the franchise. These projects include a movie centered on the dawn of the Jedi and the other on the New Republic.

In addition to news about Ridley’s return, Star Wars Celebration shared information about the second season of AndorThe Mandalorian spinoff Skeleton CrewAhsoka, starring Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, The Acolyte, and more!

While much of the new Star Wars footage was screened solely for the Celebration audience, an Ahsoka teaser trailer did drop online. The teaser trailer shows Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano searching for Grand Admiral Thrawn, a beloved villain in the Star Wars Universe. The footage introduces new characters, locales, and lots of action throughout the cosmos.
