‘The Stoic’

Production has wrapped in Wales on thriller The Stoic, the directorial debut of Jonathan Eckersley, that stars Boiling Point and Snatch actor Jason Flemyng.

Eckersley was the first assistant director on titles including The Railway Children Return and TV series such as His Dark Materials, Somewhere Boy and Line Of Duty.

The feature film was shot in Mold in north Wales and Glossop in Derbyshire, and sees Flemyng star alongside Bruce Payne as the leaders of a ruthless set of mercenaries holed up in a country retreat after pulling off a daring raid on a drugs gang. Their plans take a turn for the worse after they raise the attentions of ‘The Stoic’, played by Scott Wright, a man from an ancient clan of smugglers.

Further cast includes Stuart Brennan, Rocci Boy Williams, Jarreau Benjamin, George McCluskey and Mia Vore.

The film was produced by Eckersley and Wright for Dark Meadows Production alongside Jennifer Chippindale for The Actors Room, and the script was written by Eckersley. A late 2023 release date has been plotted.
