Critically acclaimed author Jacqueline Woodson to appear at LibLearnX

CHICAGO – One of the country’s most acclaimed authors, Jacqueline Woodson, has joined the exciting list of theater speakers at LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience, Jan. 21-24, 2022.

Author of more than 30 books for young adults, middle-graders and adults, Woodson will discuss her new children’s books. “The World Belonged to Us,” available May 2022, a homage to her own childhood and the celebration of the joy and freedom of summer in the city, and “The Year We Learned to Fly,” available January 2022, the highly anticipated companion to “The Day You Begin,” which features a bored brother and sister whose grandmother advises them to: “Use those beautiful and brilliant minds of yours. Lift your arms, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and believe in a thing.”

Woodson is a four-time Newbery honoree and a three-time Coretta Scott King Award winner. She is also the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship; Sibert Medal Award; National Book Award; NAACP Image Award; Children’s Literature Legacy Award; Margaret A. Edwards Award for Lifetime Achievement; Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award; and the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest international recognition given to a children’s author. In 2015, she was named the Young People’s Poet Laureate by the Poetry Foundation, and in 2018, she was awarded the Children’s Literature Legacy Award (then known as the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award) and was named the 2018–2019 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.

An impressive list of conference speakers will be continually updated throughout the registration period.
