Actor and children’s book author Channing Tatum to present at The Digital Experience at the 2022 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition in Washington, D.C.

CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) today announced that actor and children’s book author Channing Tatum will virtually present at the 2022 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Washington, D.C., June 23-28, 2022.

Registration is open.

Channing Tatum is best known for his work on-screen as an actor and behind-the-scenes as a producer and director. In 2021, he added “New York Times”-bestselling author to his body of work when his first children’s book, “The One and Only Sparkella,” debuted at the top spot. The “Sparkella” picture book series, illustrated by Kim Barnes, is a charming ode to self-esteem and perfect for social-emotional learning.

The book follows Ella, who is excited about her first day at a new school, but the day doesn’t go quite as planned. Her new classmates don’t like her disco-ball shoes, her PB&J-with-sprinkles sandwich, or her rainbow-y unicorn painting. She decides to try to be less sparkly at school the next day, so the other kids won’t make fun of her. But with a little help from her dad, Ella learns the importance of just being herself, no matter what other people say.

New this year, the ALA Annual Conference will host The Digital Experience, a virtual offering of 42 education sessions, 14 News You Can Use sessions and four main stage sessions. These sessions will be live-streamed from the conference in Washington, D.C directly to registrants. Registration for the Digital Experience includes on-demand content for a total of 60 sessions through August 31, 2022.

The health and safety of conference attendees and vendors are our priority. ALA is carefully tracking the latest health and safety guidance for large group gatherings from the CDC and the DC Department of Health. The Walter E. Washington Convention Center continues to work with suppliers in environmental services, health, and safety technology upgrades, food and beverage, and other services to provide additional safety measures. See the American Library Association Annual Conference 2022 Health Protocols page that will be regularly updated should changes occur.

The ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition invites library professionals at all levels of their careers and from all library types to engage in top quality professional development opportunities, including more than 160+ education sessions, and have access to the latest insights from experts on policy, research, and technology at the News You Can Use sessions. There will be more than 12 memorable thought leaders and celebrity speakers who will share their unique insights on the main stage.

The Conference Scheduler includes a variety of education sessions and programs organized by ALA Divisions and Units. It will be consistently updated with new agenda content as we move toward the conference.

The Library Marketplace will host many of the popular exhibits and activities from past conferences. More than 550 exhibitors will provide access to innovative products and services, and publishers will host more than 80 presentations from established and new authors on eight genre-specific stages. Other onsite favorites include Meet the Authors, Poster Sessions, the Live at the 25 Podcast booth, free advanced reading copies (ARCs), and more.

Get updates from the 2022 Annual Conference & Exhibition and follow #ALAAC22 and social media: ALA Twitter, ALA Facebook, and Instagram.
