The Flash: Kiersey Clemons comments on Ezra Miller controversy

Kiersey Clemons comments on Ezra Miller controversy as well as James Gunn calling The Flash the greatest superhero movie ever made.

After what feels like far too long, the release of The Flash is finally just a few months away, but the film hasn’t been free from controversy on its long road to the big screen. In addition to the frequent delays, the production also dealt with months of scandalous headlines and deeply troubling behaviour from Ezra Miller. Thankfully, those types of headlines seem to be behind us after Miller finally agreed to seek professional help and offered an apology. Kiersey Clemons, who stars alongside Miller as Iris West in The Flash, commented on her co-star’s actions while speaking with THR.

Kiersey Clemons said it’s been “absolutely” tough to read headlines about Ezra Miller, adding that “what people forget is that a lot of people go through that, but they don’t do it with the whole world watching. Although it comes with the territory, it’s really unfair and has been hard watching that.

In a statement released last summer, Ezra Miller said, “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.” Miller has since accepted a plea deal for the trespassing and burglary charges.

The Flash has been highly anticipated, especially as James Gunn recently claimed that the upcoming film is “probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.” Kiersey Clemons was asked if she heard Gunn’s compliment about The Flash. “I did, and he said very nice things,” Clemons said. “I had a great time. I’ve known Ezra for years and I loved working with Andy. Despite everything, we had a really great time filming and we did make a really great movie. I hope that despite [all the headlines], people really enjoy the movie because what James said is true. I believe what he said and I think it’s absolutely correct.

The Flash will hit theaters on June 16th, but a new trailer is expected to debut during Super Bowl LVI next weekend.
