Paddy Considine, Mena Masoud will star in Naseem Hamed’s boxing biopic Giant’ for AGC. Tea Shop, White Star

Paddy Considine, Mena Massoud

Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud will star in sports drama Giant based on the true rags to riches story of British-Yemeni fighter Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed for AGC Studios, Tea Shop Productions and White Star Productions.

Rowan Athale (The Rise, Gangs Of London) is writing and directing the feature, on which Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood of Balboa Productions serve as executive producers.

Giant will chart Hamed’s life from humble beginnings in Sheffield where he is discovered by boxing trainer Brendan Ingle and rises to become featherweight world champion against the backdrop of rampant Islamophobia and racism of in 1980 and 1990s Britain.

Considine recently starred in HBO’s House Of The Dragon and his credis include Peaky Blinders and Tyrannosaur. Massoud’s credits include Aladdin and Prime Video’s Jack Ryan.

Mark Lane of Tea Shop and Kevin Sampson of White Star are producing alongside AGC Studios chairman and CEO Stuart Ford.

Athale said, “I have wanted to bring this movie to screen for many years. The story of Brendan Ingle, a legendary boxing trainer, and his turbulent relationship with “Prince”, his protege, is truly cinematic. It’s thrilling, necessary, funny, heart-breaking, and inspiring. The Considine deal was brokered by Independent Talent Group and CAA alongside Derek Kroeger of Myman and Fox, Greenspan and Fox, Rosenberg and Mobasser.
