MCU: How Many Young Avengers Could There be?

The MCU has not yet announced a Young Avengers project, but audiences have speculated for years that some of the original Avengers might be leaving the MCU. While we may want to see our favorite characters again and again, actors and actresses understandably want to move on.

With the MCU growing every day, many people believe that the MCU will allow some of the more youthful heroes to take over. It’s not surprising that so many young characters were introduced during Phase 4. A Young Avengers movie, while not confirmed, does seem likely. So, with that in mind, how many of these adolescent universe savers could be a part of the newest MCU super-team?

Peter Parker/Spiderman

spider-man: no way home, sony, profit, marve, mcu

Before we get around to some of the newer heroes, it needs to be remembered that the Young Avengers will need a leader – and there’s no better fit than Peter Parker. Spiderman may have been relegated to being a neighborhood web-slinger after No Way Home, but MCU fan’s will know that this storyline will not last. Peter Parker is one the most powerful and smartest heroes in Marvel lore. Tom Holland’s portrayal of the character has been a favorite since day one. This one is a bit tricky, as Spiderman will be a little older than the other heroes but still considered young.

Black Panther/Shuri and T’Challa

Although Shuri assumed the role of Black Panther, Wakanda Forever revealed that T’Challa also had a son named T’Challa. Although Shuri is now older than most MCU heroes, she is still considered young. She would make a great addition to the super-team alongside Spiderman. That said, the reveal of T’Challa’s son makes things a bit murky since it isn’t yet known whether the boy will eventually take up the mantle of Black Panther like his father.

Billy & Tommy Maximoff

Wanda and Vision’s children might be fake in our universe, but it was revealed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that Billy and Tommy exist in every other universe out there. It is not unlikely that Billy and Tommy will end up in the Earth 838 universe, as the multiverse becomes more complicated throughout the MCU. If that did end up happening, the two super-children would undoubtedly be valuable assets to the team.

America Chavez

Speaking of the multiverse, one character who would absolutely be a part of the Young Avengers is the universe-hopping hero America Chavez. America Chavez, who was introduced in Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness, has powers that are God-tier. She was able to use these powers to defeat the Scarlet Witch, a feat Thanos failed to accomplish. America was also revealed to be training to become a sorceress at the end of the movie. Combine these powers and you have one super-strong adolescent heroine.

Kate bishop

Kate may be one of the newest characters in the MCU, but she is still much older than the rest of the heroes on this list. However, Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye series introduction was hilarious and captivating. It assured viewers that she will be around for a long while. It is not unreasonable to believe that Kate will take over the role of Hawkeye in the near future, considering that she is one the first six Avengers. Her experience as an Avenger and her age could make her a leader of the Young Avengers.

Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan

This is a simple one. Kamala was already a star in her own series on Disney+. The character will also be a main hero in The Marvels, which will air later in the year. The plot of the movie has been said to revolve around Kamala, Captain Marvel, and Monica Rambeau – meaning that as long as Kamala makes it out of the movie alive, she’ll be a perfect candidate for the Young Avengers, and her fangirl status of the original Avengers certainly wouldn’t hurt her chances.

Ironheart

Riri Williams might have gotten her MCU introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but her character wasn’t given as much screen-time as audiences were hoping for. Thankfully she’ll assuredly be getting the bulk of screen-time in her upcoming Disney+ show and the super-genius engineer who is set to become the next “Iron Man” of the MCU will unquestionably be a major part of the next set of Marvel heroes to take over the big screen – meaning it’s only logical that she’ll be a member of the Young Avengers.

Cassie Lang

The only child of Ant-Man has appeared in both the prior Ant-Man movies as well as a brief cameo appearance in Avengers: Endgame when Scott realizes his daughter has aged five years. Cassie Lang

The only child of Ant-Man has appeared in both the Ant-Man movies and a brief cameo appearance in Avengers: Endgame when Scott realizes that his daughter is five years old. It’s been known for a while that Cassie will play an integral role in Ant-Man: Quantumania. There are rumors that she could take over the Ant-Man position if Scott is killed. If she survives the upcoming movie, it’s a safe bet that she’ll make the Young Avengers squad.

Honorable Mentions/Wild Cards/Long Shots

Skaar – The son of Hulk was given a literal 3-second cameo at the end of the She-Hulk series when Bruce returned from an undisclosed trip to a faraway planet. Now, as the son of Hulk, it makes perfect sense that Skaar would be a member of the Young Avengers – that said, his appearance out of nowhere was a complete shock to audiences and fans will arguably have to get a little bit more information/background on the character before they’d be comfy with him just jumping in with the more established characters.

Elijah Bradley/Patriot one of the potential Young Avengers that fans could have forgotten about (since he technically hasn’t become a hero in the MCU yet) is the grandson of super-soldier Isaiah Bradley, both of whom made their debut in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier back in 2021. Fans of Marvel comics will know that Elijah gets his grandfather’s superpowers via a blood transfusion, and takes on the role of Patriot. He is one of the original Young Avengers. If Elijah’s character is able to gain powers in the MCU, then it will be a safe bet that he will make the team.

Love Love is another child of an original Avenger. Love was the adopted daughter Gorr wanted back to life at Thor: Love and Thunder. Love, the daughter of Thor would make a great addition to the team. The character was played by Chris Hemsworth, his real-life daughter. He has maintained that it was a one-and-done deal for her. Love could be recast to include the character in future installments. This is just like Cassie Lang. The character was just thrown in with other Loki versions and we were not given much background on him, other than that he killed his own version of Thor. It would be difficult enough to create a plot that included Kid Loki being brought into the main timeline. However, the Young Avengers might not want him there if this version Loki is willing to kill his brother… Just saying.

Laura Kinney/X23 – Yes, it’s the longest shot of any of these characters. However, there have been longer shots in the MCU so this isn’t impossible. The MCU already incorporates Fox-owned characters (X-Men and Fantastic 4, etc.) into the universe. Deadpool 3 is rumored not to bring back Wolverine, but Hugh Jackman is rumored. If the MCU plans to include one character from that movie’s film, why not add another? The actress who played Laura is only 18 years old and would fit perfectly into the Young Avengers squad.
