Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny lands on Disney+ with a holiday season premiere date

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is coming to Disney+ this holiday season, bringing the rip-roaring adventure home to fans.

Prepare for adventure when Harrison Ford’s final Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, premieres on Disney+ on December 1, 2023! Today’s news is bound to please those who waited to witness Ford’s swansong as the intrepid archaeologist after the sequel debuted in theaters on June 30.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny stars Harrison Ford as the legendary hero archaeologist, as well as Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Mads Mikkelsen (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore), Toby Jones (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther), Thomas Kretschmann (Das Boot), Olivier Richters (Black Widow), Ethann Isidore (Mortel), and John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark). James Mangold directed and co-wrote the script alongside Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny had a rough start at the box office with a $60M debut in 4,600 theaters. Eventually, the film earned $384M worldwide, though Disney hoped for more. The film finds a disillusioned Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr. haunted by a villain from his past and pulled into a chase to recover the Antikythera, an Ancient Greek hand-powered orrery capable of predicting astronomical patterns and eclipses in advance. Commonly referred to as the first analog computer, the Antikythera is more than it seems in Dial of Destiny. In the film, the Antikythera can chart fissures in the fabric of space-time. Open for a brief window of time, the apertures help transport explorers through time. Using the Antikythera, one could map a course through history, possibly manipulating pivotal events in world history. For a moment, imagine this device in the hands of the wrong people and feel the shivers run down your spine.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny joins the rest of the Indiana Jones film collection on Disney+ on December 1, completing Ford’s contribution to the franchise. Will Disney continue the series with Waller-Bridge in the lead role? The studio isn’t ruling it out, though they’ll think long and hard about that move before cracking the whip.
